A new research has shown how the consumption of red meat is good for cognitive function and the body’s immune system.
The Seven Ages of Man study has found that man can consume up to one pound of meat every week without leading to a greater risk of health problems.
The research showed how lean red meat is important in all stages of development right from infancy to old age. It was suggested that people should put more red meat into their diets in order to lessen the gap between mineral and vitamin intake and recommended levels. The report further states that there is emerging proof of nutrients being found in red meat that could play an active role in supporting the cognitive function, immune health and addressing iron deficiency.
Data from 103 scientific papers were reviewed and was drawn by Emma Derbyshire, senior lecturer in human nutrition at Manchester Metropolitan University and Professor Robert Pickard, Emeritus professor of neurobiology at the University of Cardiff.
