Loverboy- Working For The Weekend
Workin' For The Weekend
I have committed an act of complete insanity. Remember the other day, when I discussed "Divorce Dementia"? That was nothing. This act alone qualifies me for a long-sleeved white jacket with buckles in a softly padded room.
I am working a retail job on Black Friday and all through the weekend.
Retail and I go way back – I started in retail management right out of college, and worked my way up to being a District Manager for a retail chain within a few years. I haven't worked in the industry in a long time, but I got an email blast from the agency I used to do temp work for a few years back, and they were looking for people with retail experience to work over the Thanksgiving holiday weekend. The pay is pretty good, and I'd only be home crying in my green bean casserole anyway, so I emailed them back and said "count me in".
OK, so it's not ideal working in a major outlet mall on Black Friday, Saturday and Sunday, but it's money and I need it. I'm going to get jostled, complained to, talked down to and stepped on, and I'm going to smile my biggest customer service smile through it all. I may emerge from the weekend a babbling, shrieking mess, but at least I'll feel like I made good use of my free time.
Monday's update may be pure gibberish. I'm not sure if you can type in a strait jacket. Wish me luck!
